Reshape Innovation – The Future of Regional Economic Development

The global race for tech dominance is switching to high gear. Global champions like the United States, Japan, South Korea, and China invest massively in key areas, like R&D, fab capacities, funding stages and education. Europe is home to some technologically advanced countries, yet the continent is in danger of being left behind in the global competition. How can European countries and regions stay competitive in the long run? What could a new culture of innovation in Europe look like? And what role could the tech-savvy countries in the Western Balkans play, as Europe is finding a new footing in the tech-driven world?

Reshape Sustainability – Environmental Impact and Prosperity

Nowhere in Europe is the need for a sustainable and environmentally friendly reorientation of both the economy and societies as obvious as in the Western Balkans. Pollution limits are regularly exceeded and environmental standards are not met. In the case of Serbia, the EU acquis chapter on the environment was opened only in December 2021, and that on consumer & health protection not at all. However, such a devastating situation also holds opportunities: nowhere else does it pay off so much to introduce sustainable cutting-edge technologies. How big is the intrinsic drive of companies to voluntarily introduce EU standards already now? How can the implementation of existing environmental legislation be ensured? Where are the opportunities for a more sustainable economy specifically for the Western Balkans?

Reshaping Health – Smart solutions from companies that improve the lives of patients in Serbia

Protecting health while innovating care and improving the quality of life are key issues for aging European societies, especially the Balkan region. Protecting the health of all citizens has become an even higher priority as a result of the Covid pandemic. Smart Cities and Smart Villages are of essential importance in a global effort to reshape the quality of living. How can new technologies on the one hand and stronger cooperation between European regions and authorities on the other create an environment in which the well-being of their populations is protected and even enhanced?
